Moving You Forward
My Story
For over 14 years, I've had the privilege of helping people in a variety of roles and settings, receiving my Master's of Counselling from the University of Iowa in 2009. I have lived experience in agriculture and understand the difficulties and pressures associated in this field. I’ve been practicing as a private practice therapist in B.C. since 2021. I've also served several districts as an elementary school counsellor, middle school counsellor, and high school counsellor. I also have experience in group home settings supporting youth and adults with high support needs. I work with children, youth, and adults. Areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress, emotion regulation, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and goal setting.
My practice is rooted in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I utilize a collaborative, person-centered approach while working with clients to discover and recognize their strengths to address and take action towards their own aspirations. Through this process we will work to create change in order to achieve client goals using an evidence-based approach.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, backpacking, ice hockey, sailing, snorkeling, and learning about Vancouver Island's incredible ecosystem and all the amazing creatures that live here.
I do not offer, "adventure counselling," and am unable to work as a therapist with youth in school district 62 (Sooke School District) or persons employed in SD62 as I am partially employed in the district and it would be a conflict of interest. If you are interested in a consultation, we can spend a short amount of time finding if we are a good fit.
I acknowledge with respect the Lekwungen-speaking peoples on whose traditional territory we live, work, and play and the Songhees, Esquimalt, and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continues to this day and am grateful for the opportunity to live here.
